We worked on many documents about the Great Depression,
so here is your first task concerning this period.

PROJECT:
You are asked to
make a timeline about the Great Depression period
to illustrate English textbooks.
You will begin the timeline at the end of the 1920's and finish it in 1941.
You will have to talk about major economic, political and social events,
but also about arts and entertainment.
Only notes will appear on it as you will have to present it to the class.

(The best one will be pasted in your notebooks so make it
as enjoyable as possible with colours and pictures !)

Today, you had to work on some documents dealing with the USA in the 1930's,
each group having a topic to deal with. You had to read the document
and will have to make a short summary of it to your classmates.
You will make your oral presentation next week !

Don't forget to use gap fillers !

Here are the different documents you had to work on:

The Great Depression

Franklin D. Roosevelt's biography

The New Deal

The Dust Bowl

John Steinbeck

The Grapes of Wrath

Here are the two photographs by Dorothea Lange you described today.

Dust Bowl refugees arrive to California, 1936

and

Migrant Mother, 1936

You can find more photos by Dorothea Lange here.
