Today, as we were in "modules", we worked on the second part of the Prison Break Season 2 Trailer. You had to complete a worksheet (thanks to E. DUCHIRON for sharing) and we reviewed the modal "could" and the superlatives. HW: You have your text to review for your test on Wednesday.
Today, we first reviewed the text. We then corrected questions 7 and 8 and took some notes. We also looked at the different passive forms in the text which referred to Andrew's situation and showed that all these forms presented Andrew as a victim of other people's plots, of AIDS. HW: You have to put the paragraphs of the "Culture shock" commentary in the right order.
Today, we corrected your exercises. We then worked on a new document: the cartoon A Brief History Of America, an extract from Bowling For Columbine, by Michael Moore. You can watch the cartoon again here:

Today, you had a small test on the passive form. We then corrected your exercises and took some notes on the passive form of the modals. HW: You have an exercise to do.
Today, I gave you a work to do: for next thursday, you have to make exposés on committed singers. We finished the study of the song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday. We then compared the photo to the poem and saw that there was a strong similarity between the two: the strong contrast between the "Gallant South" and the "Strange Fruit" of the poem is also present in the photo, in the difference between the bottom and the top of the photo: the people seem to enjoy a party whereas two black bodies are hanging on a tree. This contrast clearly shows the horror of the scene. HW: Lesson to learn and read p.166-167 in your text book.
